Our Weekend

We had a great weekend. We started out on Friday night with a weenie roast and hay ride for my 4-H club. About 50 people showed up. The kids had a great time running around and playing in the dark while the parents stood around the fire and talked. It was good to laugh and spend time together.

On Saturday morning, Chris and I left to go to Benton to see my family. We hung out with my mom at her house that afternoon and helped her cook dinner for that night. That evening, Joel, Sunny, Jarrett, Aunt Kathy, and Uncle Harvey came over for dinner. Chris and I knew we were going to tell everyone about our baby after dinner so we were nervous and excited.

After dinner, Chris went to change into his "costume." The shirt was his idea, so he was ready to show it off.

Everyone was so excited....except Jarrett. He had a really freaked out look on his face. Then, he started gagging. Ha! The kid went outside and puked. We were all laughing because that's just classic Jarrett. After a while, he was feeling better about it. Later he told my mom that he was a little mad at me because he wanted to be the only little kid.

After the baby news, we all got ready to take Jarrett trick-or-treating. He went as Billy the Exterminator.

After trick-or-treating, Jarrett spent the night with us at Mom's. Sunday, we ran some errands, ate lunch at Pei Wei, and went to see Joel and Sunny's new land. Then, it was time to come home. We had a good time, and we were so glad to be able to share our good news with our family.

Week 5 - we think

I had my first doctor's appointment on Wednesday morning. I was nervous because it was a new doctor, and I was hoping that the two tests weren't wrong. Chris stayed home and went with me, which I really appreciated.

The doctor's visit was great. I love my doctor. He has a good sense of humor, kind manner, and took lots of time to talk with me. The nurse said that I was about 5 weeks along, but after an exam, the doctor said I may be as far as 8 weeks along. We have an ultrasound scheduled for the week of Thanksgiving and will find out more then.

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 5 weeks

Size of Baby: About the size of a sesame seed.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: None

Maternity Clothes: Just regular clothes.

Gender: We can’t wait to find out!

Movement: Not just yet.

Food Cravings: Lately, I’ve been craving Chick-fil-A.

What I Miss: Absolutely nothing!

Sleep: I’ve slept really well and a lot.

Symptoms: I’ve had some slight headaches, cramps, fatigue, and heartburn. Other than that, I feel great.

Best Moment This Week: I had my first doctor's appointment on Wednesday. I love my doctor and was happy to know that I am in fact pregnant.

What I Am Looking Forward To: We have our first ultrasound on November 23. We’re so excited to get the see the baby. Also, we plan to tell my family this weekend during our Halloween dinner. Pictures to follow!

It's a baby!

I am pregnant! Chris and I are so excited and amazed that I am pregnant. We've talked about kids since we were dating, and we finally decided it was time. Chris has talked endlessly about "Baby Un," (pronounced "oon"). We put me on his insurance in August with hopes of having a baby eventually. Well, eventually came soon! On Monday afternoon, I took two pregnancy tests that were both positive. I was thrilled. I immediately went to the store and bought a cute Razorback outfit to use to surprise Chris.

When I got home, I set up a little surprise for Chris in our bedroom.

Then, I called him about 50 times to see when he would be home. He was helping with a track meet at school and couldn't answer his phone. When he finally looked at his phone and saw all the missed calls, he thought I was crazy.

He finally got home, and when he walked in the bedroom, he did a double take. He started to laugh and say, "What?! Are you serious?!" He was happy, but I think a little freaked out, too. Neither of us expected this to happen so soon.

Proud Daddy

I was a little concerned that Chris was overwhelmed, but he spent the rest of the night making up baby-related songs and talking to me. He didn't even watch TV that night! The next morning I woke up to find the Razorback onesie around a loaf of bread. I think he was practicing.

We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered, and we love that we're in this phase of life. Our blessings are so great!
